Preserving the Past and Capturing the Future

The NCARA BBQ and Hall of Fame presentation will be held at the Pop Porter
Memorial Race on Sept. 13 from 12:00 to 3:00 at Shasta Raceway
Park.
Tickets will be available at the BBQ for only $8.00.
Drinks, soda, water, and beer, will be available at the concessions stand
Tickets will only be available the day of the event at the gate - and NOT presale.
Message from the President:
First, I'd like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers while I was gone.
Secondly, I'd like to apologize that the delay in both the completion of the Hall of Fame
award process and the annual BBQs. Between my health issues and the disruptions at both
race track facilities, things have been thrown off-track a bit. We look forward to a
great BBQ and more to come !!

In spite of a few light raindrops - the members and supporters of the NCARA came
out to enjoy a rare and unique event. Thousands of photos, artifacts and memorabilia
were on display at the second official club event. Most the fledgling club's members
were there as well as dozens more who just wandered in from some of the many other
motorsports related exhibits running concurrently with the NCARA event. Hundreds of
attendees perused the photos, watched the videos, and most importantly saw old friends,
rekindled friendships, and bench raced the past glories, reliving the great history that
the club is working to preserve.Kenny Briggs, longtime announcer for the Shasta
Speedway and the newest board member for the club, was on hand to chat with the people and
to interview many of the key individuals who made history in racing.

Many regaled us with stories of their racing, which vividly recounted the fun and
excitement that they all shared. In a day or so Jack Waterman will have hundreds of
photos on-line from both the BBQ and the Vintage Car Exhibition that was held on the

Special thanks to everyone who came to the First Annual NCARA BBQ and
Bench Race at Chico's Silver Dollar Speedway on July 14th. The organization wants to
thank John Padgen for helping make this event a huge sucess - without his generousity this
would not have been possible.
Welcome to the new members, and we hope everyone will be attending our next BBQ in
September at Shasta Speedway. If you have a Vintage racecar, or are interested in
